Oscars 2024: Oppenheimer wins seven awards, including best picture, to lead the field.

It dominated the evening, winning seven prizes in several categories.

Best director went to Christopher Nolan, while lead actor Cillian Murphy and supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. each received awards in their respective categories.

The movie, in which Murphy plays atomic bomb inventor J. Robert Oppenheimer, was also recognized with accolades for its score, cinematography, and editing.

The biggest upset of the evening was Emma Stone, the star of Poor Things, defeating Lily Gladstone, the first Native American to compete in the best actress category, in the race for best actress.

Gladstone's portrayal of real-life Indigenous woman Mollie Kyle, who was tricked by her husband during the 20th-century Osage murders,

won her a Golden Globe, but Stone had been winning awards, such as a BAFTA and a Critics Choice award, for her portrayal of an adult with a child's brain in Yorgos Lanthimos' dark comedy.
